ELAINE BARRON, LCSW,MSSW,MARE,BSN
Having been raised and educated in Texas, living a few years in Florida, I have been a Georgia resident since 1996, North Metro Atlanta since 2001. I have my undergraduate degree in Nursing and graduate degrees in Religious Education and Social Work (counseling concentration). My interest in counseling took a backseat during my stay at home years with my three children, as I focused my efforts in practicing the many books I read on parenting and marriage. My parenting journey brought me through the grief of infertility, the joy of adoption, the challenges of learning disabilities, and the ups and downs of dealing with an addicted teenager, the brokenness of divorce, and the challenges of remarriage. Although my formal education contributed to my holistic approach to counseling, my greatest growth and passion for others has come through the laboratory of my own struggles and experiences. The teaching of Dr. John Townsend and Dr. Henry Cloud through their Boundary books and counsel on the New Life Ministries radio program as well as the weekly teaching of Andy Stanley have helped shape my methods and strategies for counseling.
Having developed a passion to help others grow past self defeating individual and relational patterns, I have gone through a several year long process of becoming licensed as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I also received training under Cloud and Townsend in an Intensive for Counselors. Through my years of counseling, I have added psychoanalytic, emotionally-focused, cognitive-behavior, dialectic-behavioral, and solution-focused therapy techniques to my therapy “toolbox”. I use a pragmatic insightful approach to determine what best meets my clients’ needs, finding a strong correlation between Biblical principles and the therapy techniques I practice.
I am on referral lists from New Life Ministries, North Point Community Church, and Johnson Ferry Baptist Church.
